Overview

This grant supports landlords in installing electric vehicle chargepoint sockets at residential properties.  

You can get 75% off the cost of buying and installing chargepoints up to a maximum of £500 per socket.

You can receive grants for up to 200 sockets per year. 

The property must be located in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland. If your property is in the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man, it is not eligible. 

Applicants must be registered at Companies House or VAT registered. 

Applications before 1 April 2026

If you applied before 1 April 2026, your grant will be worth up to £350 per socket. You can re-apply for the new £500 rate if your chargepoint(s) has not been installed. Tell your installer before you do.

Eligibility

This grant is available to residential landlords and property managers who own or manage homes where people live, including flats, apartment blocks, housing estates, and shared communal areas.

You may be eligible if you are:

  • A private landlord
  • An RTM (Right to Manage) or residents’ management company
  • A freeholder or building owner of multi-unit properties
  • A company managing communal areas
  • A public sector body (e.g. councils, NHS, emergency services, armed forces)
  • A registered social housing provider
  • A charity managing residential property
  • A property management company acting on behalf of a landlord

You must be registered with Companies House or VAT registered with HMRC.

  • Eligible properties include houses, flats, and apartment blocks
  • You can apply for chargepoints in both individual and communal residential settings


Each chargepoint must be installed in a private, clearly defined off-street parking space

  • The space must be owned by you or legally allocated to you
  • It must be accessible to the tenant or resident
  • The parking space does not have to be physically attached to the property

If any part of the installation crosses private or public land, you must have full legal permissions in place before work begins.

How to apply

By applying for this grant you agree that you have reviewed and will comply with the eligibility criteria for this grant and the terms and conditions for OZEV’s home and workplace grant schemes.

Before you apply you must:

  • complete any necessary upgrades to the building’s electrical supply
  • arrange regular maintenance checks of the chargepoints
  • decide how the electricity and running costs will be paid
  • make sure the chargepoints are accessible
  • update your property’s risk assessment to include the chargepoints
