Overview

This grant contributes towards the cost of installing an electric vehicle chargepoint socket at your property.

You can get 75% off the cost to buy and install a socket, up to a maximum of £500.

You can apply for this grant if you either:

  • own and live in a flat

  • rent and live in any residential property (including properties under the shared ownership scheme)

You must own an eligible vehicle and your home must have its own private off-street parking space.

The property must be located in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland. If your property is in the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man, it is not eligible.

Eligibility

To qualify, you must:

  • Have an OZEV-approved eligible electric vehicle (new, used, leased, company car, or due to be delivered within 3 months).
  • Be the registered keeper, leaseholder, or primary user of the vehicle, or have it assigned as a company car.
  • Provide proof that you own or lease the EV to your installer.

For leasing arrangements:

  • The lease must be at least 6 months.
  • If bundled with a charger, costs must be clearly itemised, and ownership of the chargepoint must transfer to you after payment.

For the property:

  • You must live at the property (homeowner or tenant, including flats and shared ownership homes).
  • You must have any required landlord/freeholder permission before applying.

Parking requirements:

  • You must have dedicated, private off-street parking that you can legally use and access at all times.
  • Your installer must confirm it is safe for charging.
